Summary - The check rails of rail turnouts are responsible for protecting the integrity of the crossing nose. The relative action on the axes in transit – whose frequency of occurrence is analysed – implies mutual efforts between the wheel set and the check rail itself. By using the basic calculation criteria of vibration mechanics, the dynamic stress levels to which they are subject in relation to assigned parameters of the quantities at stake are explored.
