Summary - The increasing demands of regularity and productivity of the railway system have induced to the use of new technologies for the remote control and the automatism of the apparatus in the stations, obtaining a simplification of the organization related to the regulation and management of circulation. Taking the Bologna-Verona line as an example, we review the technical-organizational evolution of circulation, analyzing the main aspects that have contributed to determining its current set-up. A brief mention is finally placed on possible future developments
of the stations under the new vision of modal integration.
