Summary - This article describes some analyses for the estimation of time evolution of freight traffic demand at the Brenner Pass. These analyses are conducted using logistic curves calibrated and validated with the process- ing of historical series of different macroeconomic vari- ables.
The modal split between road and rail freight traffic forecasted in the medium term as a result of the assump- tion of multiple scenarios, regarding possible transport policies and operational measures guidelines is then rep- resented. The results obtained may be of direct interest for the management and planning of the Brenner corridor railway and motorway system.
