Summary - A flow field analysis was conducted using CFD simulation to improve the aerodynamic performance and reduce drag coefficient of high-speed trains. A comparison of two different front shapes revealed extensive separation zones in the front and cabins, resulting in low pressure and air backflow. Optimization methods were proposed to enhance aerodynamic performance and reduce drag coefficient. The study demonstrates the distribution of aerodynamic forces on train cabins and the impact of crosswind on aerodynamic coefficients. Results indicate that reshaping the train’s front reduces reversed flow, improves aerodynamic performance, decreases flow separation, and lowers drag coefficient by up to 47% in open air and 67% in tunnels. These findings contribute to optimizing the train’s flow field.
