Summary - What are the data collected by the National Observatory on Local Public Transport Policies for? To answer this question, some interesting elaborations
of these data are proposed below. Particularly, this work studies the standard cost model for road transport as per Decree 157/2018, built by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport by processing the Observatory data, and highlights its implications for the market. Subsequently, it proposes other processing of the Observatory data to highlight current trends and some statistical links between indicators of local public transport and settlement characteristics of the served areas. Finally, this work builds a model for estimating the mileage of road extra-urban public transit that is necessary for each area.
