
Summary - Growing focus on sustainability in the rail sector is driving new solutions for integrating renewable sources within electric traction power systems. This work presents the layout of a 2 MW photovoltaic plant directly connected to a 3 kV DC railway overhead contact line through a dedicated DC/DC converter. The paper summarizes the state of the art and the overall system architecture, and it focuses on the converter control logic, highlighting both the limitations and the opportunities of this innovative solution.
