This document recalls the main theoretical
methods for the calculation of the railway carrying capacity
and applies them to the Turin-Modane connection, along the
Turin-Lyon line. The same is then calculated - through a
trustworthy reconstruction of the line - by means of the Open
Track simulation software and assuming various traffic scenarios.
Finally, the attention is also focused on the comparison
of energy consumption between the two different tracks,
namely the historical line and the hypothetical new one.
