This paper is intended to introduce the

reading of “The specification for the design and implementation

of railway bridges and other minor undertrack

works”, enacted following the publication of the

Ministerial Decree of the Minister of Infrastructures dated

14.1.2008 “Approval of new technical standards for

constructions” in place of the specification “Overloads for

the computation of railway bridges. Instruction for design,

implementation, and testing” of 13.01.1997 and

44/B instruction “Technical instructions for under-track

works to be built in seismic areas” of 1997. In the brief,

emphasis is on the main innovations introduced by the

new specification, focusing attention on, where considered

appropriate, the main innovations introduced by the

above mentioned Ministerial Decree 14/1/08.
