Summary - The substantial equivalence of the calculation methods of the track according to Winkler and Zimmermann’s currents consolidated over time (continuous beam on elastic soil) and that of Enghesser (beam on discontinuous elastic supports), allows adopting one or the other method without prejudice to the relative limitations of applicability. Particular situations are analysed (abrupt change in rigidity of the support, absence of lift of the sleepers, etc.) with evaluation of the effects induced in terms of stresses on the rail and vertical accelerations applied to the wheels.
